THE ART OF MICHAEL J. TAPP

Moon Lit Surf
Michael J. Tapp is a self taught artist with paintings spanning over three decades. His work has taken numerous awards at furled exhibitions and showings internationally.
Born and raised in California, his paintings have been influenced by the vast and varied coastal waters and inland deserts, forests, and mountain ranges. His works have been exhibited from Southern California through Cannel, San Francisco, and Northern California.
The paintings continued to evolve as Michael moved on to the emerald green rain forests, majestic mountains and rugged coastal islands of the Pacific Northwest. Once again the artist gained a following of private, corporate and public collectors throughout the Northwest and Alaska,
From the Pacific Northwest, the artist continued on his journey to the tropical islands throughout the pacific and Micronesia. There he lived and painted for many years surrounded by clear blue lagoons, coral reefs, and lush tropical rain forests, subjects captured on canvas.
His paintings earned the distinction of being included in the private and government collections of the Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana islands, the Governor of American Samoa, and the Governor of Guam. His paintings are included in the private and corporate collections of many Pacific rim Nations.
As the journey continues, Michael's new studio in the Hawaiian Islands is enveloped by awesome beauty, ever changing coastlines, cascading waterfalls, and shear mountain peaks shrouded in mist. This new environment inspiring new and unique works of art as the Artist continues to evolve and grow.

RUTH ANN LOVING

The art of Ruth Ann Loving can best be described as realistic. Vibrant color employed with expressive brushwork communicates the many moods of the subject matter that only the eye of the artist can discern. Color, speaking its own language, is supported by pattern, movement and value contrasts to draw the eye of the viewer into the composition. While subject matter may tell the story, it is the design of the painting that makes it a work of art.

Her works include landscapes, still life, and portraits. The nature of the painting dictates whether it will be interpreted in oil, acrylic, watercolor, digital, pastel or collage; for each media has its own expressive qualities. She paints, drawing on the gift of an inner voice, not only for herself but for the pleasure of the viewer.

Ruth graduated with honors from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Virginia with a degree in studio art and she is presently continuing her art studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her paintings are collected privately, exhibited publicity and have won awards. She is a corporate member of Art First Gallery & Studios, Inc., Fredericksburg, Virginia where she maintains a studio and creates her works of art.
